About
Hi, I’m Jonathan.
I’m French, born and raised in France, and I teach one exam: the TCF Canada. French Path Canada is the name of what I built around it, the coaching, the platform and the free guides on this site.
What 2,000 lessons taught me
For the last few years I have done almost nothing but prepare people for the TCF Canada, with students from India to Brazil to Nigeria. Here is what I see, again and again: people rarely fail because their French is weak. They fail because they repeat the same three or four mistakes under pressure, and nobody ever told them which ones.
A test tells you where you are. It does not fix what you get wrong. That is the idea behind everything here: find your mistakes, then bring them back until they hold.
How I teach
- Structure before vocabulary. In speaking, a sequence that keeps you talking: answer, explain in two full sentences, then extend. In task 2 you lead the exchange and ask the questions; in task 3 you take a position early, back it with an example and conclude. The speaking guide shows the three tasks.
- Your mistakes come back. On the platform, a question you miss returns the next day, then after 3, 7 and 14 days, until you get it right without thinking.
- No machine score. Neither the AI examiner nor the writing report gives a grade. A machine score can disagree with the real examiner, and the day it says “fine” to someone who then fails, it has done harm. You get a checklist of what you actually said or wrote instead.
- An honest date. In the diagnostic, I tell you honestly when to sit the exam.
What French Path Canada does, and does not do
It does
- All 186 listening and reading tests in the official format, free for good, with every answer explained.
- A 15-minute daily session in the paid plans, at the level where you start to drop.
- One-on-one coaching: 50-minute sessions on Google Meet.
- Free guides, past exam topics and a score to NCLC calculator.
It does not
- Promise a score or an immigration result. Only the official exam gives your score.
- Give immigration advice. For your file, ask IRCC or a licensed consultant.
- Claim an exclusive question bank: part of it also circulates elsewhere. What the platform adds is the method around it.
- Speak for the exam's owners: it is independent of France Éducation international and of IRCC.
How to reach me
The quickest way is the question button at the bottom right of every page: you leave your email and your question, and I reply by email, usually within a day. You can also find my videos on the French Path Canada YouTube channel.
Start where everyone starts
The free level test places your reading comprehension from A1 to C2 in about ten minutes, with no account and no payment. It is not an official score, and it shows you where to begin.
